Mandarin’s Thursday Deals – Beware

Last night we headed out to Mandarin in the CWE for DJGel’s birthday.

For those that haven’t made it out, Mandarin is a bit yuppier than the rest of the hipster-centric CWE – think trendy “bottle” service club with loud techno music. While not our usual scene, it was a nice night and they have a great outdoor roof deck with comfy couches and, unlike other nights, there’s no cover or strict dress code, making this place more our speed than it might otherwise be.

Most importantly, they also offer some Thursday Deals – including $3 wells and $3 16 oz Anheuser Busch aluminums that run past the usual Happy Hour time.

DJGel is a big gin and tonic fan so we figured if we were going to be buying drinks for him all night, this would be a solid choice.

Everything started off well. We ordered from the indoor bar – 2 G&T’s and a Bud Light – $9. Not bad considering this was covering 3 people. Our next round was purchased from the outdoor bar, same drink order but the tab came to $15. Since we were alternating, a little drunk and not everyone was aware of the Thursday deals, it took us longer than it should have to realize that all drinks (including Budweisers) were $5 at the outdoor bar instead of $3 at the indoor bar. Honestly, who would ever pay $5 for a Budweiser unless they were at a Cards game?

According to the guy at the indoor bar, the Thursday special is available at both the indoor and outdoor bars but for those thinking of hitting this up – Buyer Beware. It’s obvious that not all of the bartenders are up to date on the deals and specials of the night.
